Hi & Welcome!

I wanted to introduce myself and share a little about my life and why I wanted to start this blog.

My name is Nikki, I have been married to my awesome husband for 5 years and together we have two kids, one girl (Piper- 2 y/o) and one boy (Axel- 7 weeks). We also have a dog, cat, and 8 chickens.

I’m finishing up maternity leave and about to start back to work as a freelance virtual assistant. It’s going to be an adventure navigating my schedule with two kids, work, and trying to keep my house somewhat together. I chose this career to allow me to be home with my kids and have flexibility with my schedule. My son is dealing with reflux and colic + won’t take a bottle or pacifier, so I’m very grateful I’m able to work from home instead of having to send him to childcare.

When it comes to parenting, I follow gentle (not submissive) parenting, exclusively breastfeed, & do not allow number dyes once solids are introduced. I’ve learned a lot about all of these things and hope to share some tips here to help other moms who may be just starting out or just need some ideas. Of course I’m still learning too and I’m always looking for new information.

Even before I had kids, I am very much a homebody. Now that I work from home and have flexibility with my business, I’ve had more time to spend on cooking & baking. I’ve learned to make things from scratch like bread, tortillas, butter and other fun things. I also LOVE baking with my daughter and she loves it too (we are both chronic batter-tasters). Not only do homemade foods taste better, I love that there are less unnecessary ingredients and processing. We also have a garden and this is our first year with chickens. So being able to get things right from our backyard has been so cool!

Due to my son’s reflux, I’ve had to cut dairy out of my diet so I’ve been focusing on finding dairy free alternatives to things including my daily coffee and things that I bake. Plus, finding meals that everyone can enjoy and I can still have. Between being dye-free and dairy-free, it’s almost easier to just make stuff from home because I know what’s in it and can adjust accordingly.

I decided to start this blog as a way to share some of the things that I’ve learned on my journey as a mom because I was always (and still am) searching the internet for helpful content. If I can help even one mom/dad/grandparent/babysitter, I will be thrilled!

I’m sure there is a ton of stuff I could add but I don’t need to overwhelm you. I’ll share more as I post more.

I’m looking forward to meeting new mom friends here and learning from each other! If you have certain things you’d like to hear about, please let me know!

Love, Nikki
